U.S. to finalize sharply lower vehicle fuel economy standards
President Trump approved new fuel economy standards for cars and light trucks that substantially weaken the requirements put in place under the Biden administration, which had mandated roughly 50 miles per gallon by 2031. The Trump administration plans to release the final rule on September 28, with Trump saying the change will lower the price of new vehicles.
